April 10th (DIT Aungier St. Dublin, 6pm in room 3-077)
At our April meeting, John Baker will start off a discussion on some of the current challenges for the basic income movement. How should basic income affect our ideas about paid work, the minimum wage, and inequalities of earned income? Would basic income help to legitimise low-paid, precarious work? Is it worth promoting when there are so many other injustices that need to be overturned? Should progressive advocates of basic income welcome support from conservatives? How should proponents of basic income relate to other organisations and movements? Everyone is welcome to attend, and there will be plenty of time for discussion.
